Brews, Booch and Big Things Happening around Chula Vista.

Calling all beer lovers! You may know Chula Vista as an up-and-coming south San Diego hot spot, but did you know that it’s already an established craft beer haven? As if there wasn’t already enough to love about the area, we’re about to give you seven more reasons to make Chula Vista a weekend favorite.

Novo Brewing

Even if you’re not much of a beer drinker, Chula Vista has some amazing Kombucha options to savor. Let’s start with Novo Brewing. This colorful and lively brewery will wake up your senses from the moment you walk in the door. From its impressive mural covered walls to the massive TVs playing all your favorite sports to the delightfully colored cans you can take home with you, Novo is sure to be a good time. The best part? Novo crates tons of its own Brazilian-inspired lagers, sours and hazy IPAs along with the new hard Kombucha line. It’s the best of both worlds wrapped up into one eye-catching package.

Boochcraft

Next on the mouthwatering Kombucha trail is Boochcraft. If you’re into sustainability and getting the most bang for your buck, this high alcohol Kombucha might become your new favorite. All the fruit used in Boochcraft drinks is fresh pressed in-house and bought directly from local farmers. That means no added sugars, no fake stuff, no compromises. It’s probably the sweetest, and dare we say healthiest, buzz you’ll ever experience. While Bootchcraft doesn’t have a tasting room in its Chula Vista brewery, you can find it at Barons, Sky Market and many other Chula Vista locations. Groundswell Brewing Company

Is there any better combination than pizza and beer? The answer is a resounding no. At Groundswell Brewing Company located in the center of Third Ave, you can find some beautifully balanced beers paired with seriously stellar woodfired pizza sold whole or by the slice. The best part about Groundswell is the community centric environment they’ve created. From the colorful back patio to the welcoming beautifully designed interior, it’s a place where you’ll not only want to bring old friends, you’re bound to meet new ones too. Well behaved kids, dogs and in-laws are all welcomed! So, gather the crew and head to Groundswell for pizza and beer.

Bar Sin Nombre

If you like variety, Bar Sin Nombre is your spot. With the biggest beer list in the area, you’ll find all your favorites and even some undiscovered gems that’ll keep you coming back for more. You can look forward to outstanding pours from smaller standout breweries from across the US, plenty of sours, $5 micheladas and a super cool original Nintendo setup that’ll make these brews go down even smoother. And if you find yourself getting the munchies, the Corazon de Torta food truck is happy to feed your appetite a few days a week.

Chula Vista Brewery

Chula Vista Brewery is opening an exciting second location in Eastlake this year. The new location will house a 10-barrel brewing system and a full kitchen crafting authentic Texas BBQ form Oak & Anchor. BBQ and beer might just give pizza and beer a run for its money. The original location on Third Ave is still as hoppin as ever with an Oak & Anchor pop-up making an appearance a few days a week. You can also find this award-winning beer at local stores like Sprouts, Grocery Outlet, Bevmo and other area liquor stores. Click here to learn more about all things Chula Vista Brewery.

Sanctum Ale House

In the mood for some new-school brews and old-school games? Sanctum Ale House on Main St. in Otay Ranch is a great spot for tipsy game night. Show off your skills on the beer pong table. Revel in the nostalgia of giant Jenga and giant Connect Four. Or just chill and sip while you catch the big game. Featuring 20 rotating taps Tuesday-Sunday, Sanctum Ale House is a place everyone can enjoy.

Bay Bridge Brewing

Handcrafted beers without any of the bloat? Where do we sign up?! These gluten-reduced beers are the love child of founders Jim and Doug who started brewing beer in the back yard in 1996. Established in 2006, Bay Bridge Brewing became the very first brewery located in Chula Vista. Thursdays-Sundays are sure to be a good time with events like Comedy Heights, Live Music and Trivia on Tap. Click here to get the full event schedule and see what the OG Chula Vista Brewery is all about.
